SideQuest IRL exists to get people into the same room — not to build a data business. This page says plainly what we collect, why, and what we never do with it.

1. What we collect

• Account basics — your email, display name, password (stored hashed, never readable by us).
• Your profile — the vibe tags, interests, photo and city you choose to add.
• Activity in the app — events you host or join, check-ins, reviews, quests, messages you send, and your show-up history (that one powers your reputation on purpose).
• Approximate location — only to show distances to nearby events, and only when you allow it. We don't run background location tracking.

2. What we use it for

Running the app: showing you tonight's events, matching quests to your vibe, sending the notifications you opt into (event reminders, someone-joined, side quests), keeping the community safe (reports, blocks, moderation), and seeing which parts of the app people actually use (Mixpanel — details in section 4).

3. What we never do

• We don't sell your data. To anyone. Ever.
• We don't run third-party ad tracking on you. No Mixpanel SDK package on the phone — the app itself sends anonymous opens and screen names to Mixpanel.
• We don't show your exact location to other users — people see distances, not pins on you.
• We don't read your messages unless one is reported to us for a safety review.

4. Who else touches your data

A few services help run the app: our hosting and database provider, an email provider (to send verification links, password resets and event reminders), a payments processor (only if you buy something — we never see your card number), the open-source map tiles the map loads, and Mixpanel (product analytics — which screens people open, and whether they signed up, joined, showed up, or hosted). The website and the phone app both send those events. Mixpanel gets an anonymous id or your account id, the event name, and a page or screen path. It does not get your email, your messages, or your exact location. Each service gets only what it needs to do its one job.

5. Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you logged in. No ad cookies, no cross-site trackers.

6. Your controls

• Edit or remove your profile details anytime in Settings.
• Turn notifications on or off per channel (email, browser, app).
• Delete your account anytime in Profile → Delete account (web or mobile), or start at our delete-account page. We remove your personal data and keep only what safety or law requires (e.g. a record of a resolved report). If you can't sign in, email go2zach@gmail.com.

7. Age

SideQuest is 18+. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

8. Changes
